[With that she swings her glaive knocking a few of the heartless closing in on them away before running down the alleyway she had pointed out. ]

[Mercury runs to keep up with Saturn. Though she has no weapon like her comrade's, she uses her attacks to keep the heartless out of their way - always pushing them forward, away from the town and people.]

[The heartless that aren't pushed along drop down into the ground and scurry along after the retreating senshi. ]

They are following!

[It was a good thing, it meant their plan was working and the heartless were being led out of town. ]

[This is really not the time to be thinking this but...]

I feel a little bit like the pied piper...

[Saturn smiled even as she continued their run away from the heartless. ]

We didn't even need a flute.

Come on; we can't be distracted now. [It's more a warning to herself than scolding Saturn.] If we can just get them past those dunes, they rarely come back any time soon.

[Dunes? Ah, there they were just ahead! They really were too far away, surely they could make it there. ]

Will they go away once we reach them?

[Hotaru asked between puffs of air. She was beginning to get a little winded from all of the running they were doing. ]

For now.

And if it's all we can do for now, it's all we can do.

We can hope so. I don't think we'll need to go further than that.

I'll be fine! Let's just try to make it there as fast as we can.

Right! It's just a bit further, then the town won't be troubled by them.

[She quickens her pace, driving the heartless ahead of her to the best of her ability. She keeps her arms close to her side, like a runner's, for better speed.

It feels... good to be teaming up with other senshi from home again. Of course, after Saturn's own words earlier, her mind can't help wondering if Saturn's power of death could truly- but it's too cruel.]

[Saturn tries to quicken her pace too. Still she fell back a few paces and ended up running slightly behind Mercury instead of beside her. It was fine though. From this position she could guard Mercury's back and make certain none of the faster heartless could attack the other senshi's retreating back. ]

[Mercury lets off one final attack before considering the job done well enough.]

Mercury Aqua Rhapsody! [The ethereal harp springs into her hand; its watery glissando produces a forceful blast in the direction of the retreating foes.]

[Before Saturn knew it they were at the dunes and just like Mercury had thought the heartless who had been in pursuit began to melt away and disappear. Those that didn't met with Mercury's final attack and were quickly dispatched. ]

We made it!

[Saturn was grateful. Now she could stop to catch her breath. ]

What were those things?

[Mercury uses the chance to catch her breath before answering.]

They're called 'heartless'. There are many different types of them, and they're an enemy to these worlds sort of like youma. [Low level, largely mindless, not too difficult to beat but with a tendency to come in packs, and likely being used for a larger goal.]

I'm surprised they just left. I guess even creatures after hearts get tired of chasing?

[This whole world felt strange. A land in transition... fighting the darkness, trying not to be swallowed by it.
She tried to push these feelings aside to carry on her conversation with Mercury though. ]

[She can sympathize, even after this long to get used to them.]

Our powers aren't the type to banish them, but we can still give them a chase. We're not helpless. [She says this as a good-natured pep speech.]

[Not being helpless was true. She could always use her ultimate power to stop them but... ]

Are the others here too?

[That depends on which others.]

Sailor Neptune is here, and Sailor Star Maker. Osaka Naru, a friend of Usagi, is also here. Zoisite, one of the shitennou, as well; but he's from after the Dark Kingdom was defeated. He's worked together with us somewhat, like Kunzite did while he was here.

So they, didn't all make it away from those creatures? Not even the Princess?

The others were here for awhile. However, they disappeared again. [This is a blow Hotaru will understand as few others would, just how much the senshi should mean to each other.]

[Disappeared again. All of them, gone?

That was terrible news! And even worse, without the other Sailor Senshi. ]

That means...

[How could they hope to win without the Princess to rely on? ]

[Ami hasn't quite been right since then, and losing the person she relied on while the girls seemed distant hasn't helped. Her expression looks distant for a moment.]

It means we have to keep going, as we are. Even if alone.

Until we can find the others, there is nothing else we can do.

[Fight the heartless and find the other Senshi. She doesn't believe they would be gone forever. ]

[Even with the others, they hadn't been able to make progress. Everyone had seemed to be busy with their own worries, even when Makoto and Ami had tried to bring them together again.

But she can hardly say this. Instead, Mercury tries to find that faith. She does object to one point, however.]

I've survived this long here without them. I can keep going and fighting to right this. [It's starting to affect her.]
