Dante reminds Tidus of someone he would have been friends with in Zanarkand. After how damn squeaky clean most people on Spira tended to act, he appreciates Dante's personality and thinks he'd be someone fun to be around. Yet he also recognizes that Dante is a pretty good guy, and someone he could count on when he needs to.
